Description
This collection comprises 145 oral history interview transcripts, 142 photographs, and 114 photographic essays
and narratives contributed by Instructor Dr. Buck T. Foster and his history students from Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College
in Perkinston, Mississippi. They began gathering this data soon after Katrina hit.
Students photographed damages predominantly in Mississippi and Alabama, and then interviewed people
living in, or who formerly resided in, those areas. Students also wrote personal reflections of their
hurricane experiences. Most of this material was posted on a website designed and maintained by
Foster and his students. After taking the website offline, they donated their work to the
Hurricane Digital Memory Bank.
