It has been over a year now since this disaster has happened but I still find myself crying all the time about the lose. We were not going to leave but when it hit Galveston and I saw how it was moving stuff around like it was toys I told my kids pack it up lets go. It took us 27 hrs to get to where we are now Tyler Tx which normally takes about 3 hrs from Beaumont. It was crazy 7 teenagers 4 babies my mom and 2 dogs, plus family in law and their cat in 3 cars. We got into 2 accidents with each other on the way there and split company ASAP as soon as we got to Tyler. Then we had to stay in a shelter with most of us including 2 of the babies. Then after a month of that a motel 2 rooms 10 people while running behind FEMA (what a joke). We went home to try and save what we could and it was terrible our house was destroyed and everything in it was bad but we were able to save a little bit and with the help of my son we got what we could to bring with us to start over. We are now living in a house in Tyler now working to just live and would love to go home but just cant see it happening. They say it takes at least 2 yrs to come back from this but I do not know if I will ever be back from this. Cant go home, Cant be happy here, Cant change the fact that my daughter lost it and ranaway several times (she is home now but all of her friends that she knew all her life are back home so who knows when I will wake to see her gone again). My other daughter is trying very hard to keep it together but she wants to go home too we all do and we just cant. I watch on tv these people who get cant wait to tell everyone how bad their neighborhoods, homes, streets and cities but none of them talk about the damage that was done to our well being. My heart is broken and spirit is shattered. I tell myself everyday that it is going to get better but then I sit at a red light and all of a sudden I am crying. LIFE HAS GOT TO GET BETTER SOON.......
