I am a 2nd Lieutenant in the Indiana Army National Guard. My unit was sent to Camp Shelby, Mississippi. We sent troops to various locations to hand out food and water and be a security presence. I am an RN. Some of us stayed back at Camp Shelby and set up a clinic to take care of injured and sick soldiers who were part of the support troops. \r\n\r\nI went to Gulfport one day to survey the damage. It was very sad to see so much destruction and so many people displaced. \r\n I am thankful that although I did not do the type of work I was prepared to do, I was able to be a part of something much bigger than myself. I was honored to be able to go and help members of my human family start to rebuild their lives
