29 August 2005 - It was a quiet morning. The hurricane came in and left. Celbration ensued between my brother, his wife, and my other brother. Yes, the home recieved water, but, it was better than expected. Where was the hurricane now? Baton Rouge? Kenner? They called me in Houston, and, I couldn\'t answer it. I didn\'t know. They told me that they heard a loud scream , \"RUN UP THE ATTIC NOW!!\" The water from the levee broke through the front door. The home went from 1/2 an inch of water to 7 Feet. Like that, our home, gone. The tv was floating away. So was the fridge. 12 Hours. . .waiting. A helicoper comes. \"Save us, save us!!\" they clamored. But the helicoper left. Later, we found out that it was a CNN Helicopter, and my brother was seen on CNN waving a red t-shirt on a baseball bat. Finally, a helicopter came. To the Superdome they went. Not willing to stay, they walked to the Hyatt, barefoot, glass broken everywhere. The entire week, they stayed, and finally, they called, \"We are on our way to Houston . . .we are ok, the house is gone . . . we will be there this afternoon.\" I realized that property isn\'t worth it, but, losing a life is. Thank God we did not lose them.
