Hi, I\'m Marilyn and we live in the Pine Forest area north of Vidor, TX. We left on Thur. morning with 4 cars and 20 people to go to our safe spot above Lake Sam Rayburn. By 3:00 am Fri. my son and step-son joined us. My step-son\'s wife had given birth on Wed. and the government evacuated her and the baby by military cargo plane. They wouldn\'t even tell him where his wife & newborn was going. We finally found out they were safe in N. Carolina. Rita hit Tx and moved right on up and over us on Sat. We were all fine but the compound where we were staying was very isolated and didn\'t expect to get electricity for up to 3 weeks. So we packed up now 22 people in 6 cars and drove to my brother\'s house near Austin. We camped out there( my son had pulled his pop-up camper) on floors etc. for 2 days. My step-daughter & her baby got a flight to Austin and joined the nomads (now 24 people). Then we found a campground with cabins and stayed for 10 days. By then my step-son\'s family and step-daughter\'s family were able to get hotel rooms in Conroe. We traveled closer to home and stayed in my sister-in-law\'s apartment in Lumberton, one of the 1st areas to get electricity. My husband and son had to go back to work. My son\'s family went home to Vidor when they go elec. but we stayed in Lumberton for another week. After 3 1/2 weeks we finally got to return home. We were so lucky with no damage to the house, but our trees and yard looked like a hurricane had hit it! = )
