MOBILE, Ala. (October 13, 2005)--Petty Officer 3rd Class Huynh A. Nguyen, a 21-year-old Vietnamese reservist stationed at Sector Mobile, talks with Nhanh Nguyen, the owner of the fishing vessel Sharon II in Bayou La Batre, Ala. Nguyen, activated as a Vietnamese interpreter, met with many Vietnamese vessel owners after Hurricane Katrina hit Bayou La Batre and Gulfport, Miss. He helped breach a language barrier by relaying information and alleviating concerns between the Coast Guard and Vietnamese community about safety issues, vessel recovery and hazardous materials remediation.
