Hellicane: Poets Respond to Hurricane Katrina

Stand-alone figure of a man\r\nWho has a reputation of winning\r\n\r\nAlways rises to the circumstance\r\nMan to call when in a clutch\r\n\r\nDrumroll and the heartbeat of a trumpet blast!\r\nSound of the wind, hurricanes of the past\r\n\r\nThis time the man doesn\'t come through\r\nThe flood swept everything away\r\nMama said \'Forget it son - it\'s another day\'\r\n\r\nStiff upper lip and tears well up in the eyes\r\nCareful to be silent, and careful not to cry\r\n\r\nThe hurt is a burden, and the anger is a flame\r\nWhat can be said, and what can be done?\r\n\r\nTo say everything will be alright sounds absurd\r\nWhat is important is the try\r\nWin, lose or draw - he has nothing to hide\r\n\r\nThe world might seem against him and all might seem lost\r\nBut a survivor always says\r\n\'I\'m a fighter, and I have God on my side!!!\'
