Sordid suffering\r\nSunk in sewage\r\nPorch-less houses\r\nWrecks and ruins\r\nBloated bodies\r\nFlesh be stewing\r\nLeft to rot\r\nIn New Orleans\r\n\r\nSocial bedlam\r\nRiotous looting\r\nCops and robbers\r\nAll getting their boot in\r\nLeft five days\r\nNo wonder they\'re fuming\r\nGovernment lost\r\nIf it ain\'t shooting\r\n\r\nThe bottom rung\r\nCouldn\'t get out\r\nLeft to fend\r\nIn flood and drought\r\nJust got to get on\r\nNo use to shout\r\nWhilst wealthy ears\r\nF*ck about\r\n\r\nFires burning\r\nUnder water\r\nBroken fathers\r\nSearch for daughters\r\nRescue crews\r\nWith guns so thoughtless\r\nStill living dead\r\nLike lambs to slaughter\r\n\r\nDisillusioned\r\nAimless wading\r\nPossession-less\r\nDreams fast fading\r\nHopeless homeless\r\nSurvival scathing\r\nDrags them under\r\nDarkness waiting\r\n\r\nMan at top\r\nClueless fool\r\nChecking wreckage\r\nSat on a stool\r\nSoulless sorrow\r\nCucumber cool\r\nFlesh and blood\r\nJust not a jewel\r\n\r\nExcuses fall\r\nLike autumn leaves\r\nTo clarify thoughts\r\nOf the bereaved\r\nFloods and tears\r\nAnger breathes\r\nThis the freedom\r\nThey all seized\r\n\r\nPower charges\r\nInto the ring\r\nBox them ears\r\nMake them sing\r\nThey\'ve got the fear\r\nYou\'ve got the things\r\nYou\'re deep, they\'re shallow\r\nThey hear only ch-ching!\r\n
