Hellicane: Poets Respond to Hurricane Katrina

Savage winds powerful rain making lives joyless\r\nPeople feeling Godforsaken\r\nYoung ones frightened\r\nAunts, uncles, cousins, brothers, sisters, moms, dads, all devastated\r\nUnusual things have happened, unspeakable things\r\nEveryone trying to help, being reliant, but panic-stricken\r\nLives are broken into pieces smaller than an atom\r\nEveryone bewildered and loved ones lost\r\nMany lonely, many dead\r\nSome weak like they can\'t carry on\r\nBut there comes a time in every person\'s life\r\nWhere they need to forget what happened\r\nAnd never underestimate Mother Nature\r\n
