Reginald, age 14, Reliant Center - Reginald, my dude! Loved Reginald and Joshua. These were the two boys that were drawing with us the morning of the ABC coverage. They said they were brothers, but I don’t think so. Joshua’s little brother had been coloring with us days prior. He was a regular, but this was the first day I met Reginald and Joshua. Both of these boys had HUGE talent. Not just in drawing, but I have my suspicions Reginald can write. They lived in the Projects but both parents worked. (Somewhere in my head is more info on parents; I just can’t pull at this time). This is mostly coming from Joshua, so I’m suspecting it was his parents and not Reginald’s. These boys talked a lot about guns and the missed bullets. They weren’t bragging, it was just everyday conversation to them. They laughed about me being so out of it and were disgusted and in shock when I asked why they were drawing shoes with ‘J’s on them. It was at this point, they decided to teach me the language of the projects. I got a piece of paper and took notes. They were so amused. On this picture, they were drawing detail around them. Really like ink and didn’t want to use a lot of color. \r“Cots” - Reginald Ashley: I like your cots (drawing) Reginald: “you wouldn’t if you slept on one!” \r“Red Cross Dudes” - Reginald “these Red cross dudes look like me before they cut off my hair!”\r
