Photo of a fan distributed to audience members at LAKEVIEWS, a bus tour with stops for dance performances, drama and art displays staged in various locations in the flood-ravaged Lakeview neighborhood on June 1-3, 2007.\r\n\r\nThe performances began and ended at the former site of Bruning\'s Restaurant, 1922 West End Park. A family style dinner was served afterward. Suggested donation: $15.\r\n\r\nThe LAKEVIEWS project was in affiliation with HOME, New Orleans?, a community-based, arts-focused network of organizations, universities, schools, artists, and neighbors that brings diverse constituencies together to create positive change in New Orleans. Its focus is home in its many manifestations: individual dwellings, neighborhoods, and the city itself. The Lakeview core team of Home, New Orleans? consists of Lakeview born and/or based artists: visual artist Jan Gilbert of The VESTIGES Project; theater artists Kathy Randels of ArtSpot Productions; Andrew Larimer of The NOLA Project; and writer Jan Villarrubia. They have partnered with many individuals and organizations from the area and surrounding areas: Reverend and Mrs. Dick Randels and Lakeview Baptist Church Congregation; the Contemporary Arts Center; Tulane students Marikit Bankston, Jessica Seedyke, Melissa Stein, and Xavier students Danisha McCall, Takako Uemura; dancer Maritza Mercado-Narcisse; an AARP Group meeting in Lakeview; composers William Gilbert and Christopher Trapani, Beacons of Hope Graffeo Recovery Center, and more. The Lakeview group has focused its efforts on preserving the oral history; energizing, fortifying existing neighborhood efforts; and taking steps to enliven the neighborhood and honor representatives of the area.\r\n\r\nSponsors: Transforma/National Performance Network; American Center Foundation; The Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts; National Endowment for the Arts; The Nathan Cummings Foundation, the Bruning family and other individual donors. Additional support by: ArtSpot Productions; Metairie Park Country Day School; Contemporary Arts Center; Marriott Residence Inns; Propaganda Group Inc.; Express Lighting; e/Prime Media Productions; Boonfellow.
