On August 27, 2005 I went to work like it was any other day. Not until I arrived, did I realize that Hurrican Katrina exsisted. Since my senior year of high school in 2002, I lived my life like a hermit. My life was engulfed by Six Flags New Orleans. In those 3 years my blood, sweat, and tears were shed in that swamp. Most people wouldn\'t like the heat sweltering summer days, the smell of marsh after it rained, the enormous mosquitos, or the long hours I slaved through; but I did. I learned about myself, that I was capable of building manly things, painting beautiful sets, basically realizing that I could do anything if I wanted. But on that morning, little did I know, that it would be the last time I would ever be able to be in that park.\r\n\r\nSunday morning, I evacuated with my family to Hernando, MS. If you haven\'t heard of this place, don\'t worry, neither did I. I stayed here for about a week and a half. We made the best of this tiny town. Our daily excitement would be a trip to Wal-Mart and every day we would have a new password to get into the hotel room. \"Catastrophic\" or \"Tornadic\" were some of our passwords. Like everyone else, we were glued to the television for the majority of the day. I remember watching, and just wishing I could be back in my city, walking the town. Not until I saw my second home, did I shed a tear. I knew the city was horrible, but not until I saw Six Flags, did I grasp how severe it was. I knew that life as I once knew it was washed away, my whole life for the past 3 years was gone. \r\n\r\nFinally, I left that dreadful hotel room and drove to Houston. Here, I started working at Six Flags AstroWorld. But being the type of month it was, of course we would find out on the news that Astro World would be closing. About this time, Rita was coming to get me in Houston. For the last time, I evacuated back home. This is probably one of the best times of my hurricane experience. For most people it wasn\'t, but for me it was. I was able to be in my own home that had minor damage and be with my friends for the first time in a month. I know that I was very lucky and fortunate to not have my house ripped apart and washed away by Katrina, but in a huge way it was, Six Flags was my second home.\r\n
