It was the first week of school and my friends and I finally got together again after a long summer vacation. I was very excited to start school and get together with my friends. However, the excitement did not last very long because Katrina destroyed the whole city of New Orleans including University of New Orleans. \r\n\r\n\r\n Before Katrina hit the city, I evacuated to city of Houston with a small duffle bag hoping to spend 2 days in Houston and go back to New Orleans. As it turned out, Katrina had caused the levees to break and that caused the city of New Orleans to flood. Immediately, I realized that it is going to be a matter of months before anybody will be able to go back to New Orleans. \r\n\r\n\r\n At that time, I was staying at a hotel room with two friends of mine and we realized that we were running out of money. We all had to sit down in the hotel room and started to come up with different plans on how to move forward. One of my friends decided to go to Indiana to stay with his relatives. My other friend and I decided to stay in Houston and get a job to be able to survive. We both started working and we rented an apartment and stayed in Houston for one year. It was a very difficult period of time but we did have a lot of fun in Houston and made lot of friends. \r\n
