Collection

Mourners have been leaving art, photos, and messages of love at 3438 Cleveland St., the home of Helen Hill and Paul Gailiunas, ever since Helen was killed on January 4, 2007. This side view shows where someone has painted a heart, \"Helen\", and chickens on the porch. (Helen liked chickens and they appear in her artwork.) Helen was a filmmaker. She was shot and killed by an intruder in the Marigny home she and her husband rented when they returned to New Orleans. (The Cleveland Street house had flooded and was gutted.) Helen\'s husband, Dr. Paul Gailiunas, suffered gunshot wounds in the attack but he was able to protect their 2-year-old son from harm. This photo was taken six months after the shooting. New Orleans Police have not arrested anyone in connection with the shooting and seem to have no leads.
