Katrina and Aftermath
Collection
Phil decided to stay during Katrina because he \"lived in Uptown, you know, it\'s high ground.\" He also felt like he needed to stay behind to watch over the condominiums he was managing at the time. So he stayed. \r\n\r\nAfter the storms, Phil experienced life in New Orleans during a strange period when most New Orleanians were gone and the city had filled with National Guardsmen and first responders from throughout the nation. \r\n\r\nEventually, Phil began to write songs about his experience. Phil\'s easy going sense of humor is noticeable in many of these songs, but his sense of shock, loss, and anguish is also felt in all of them.
