I live in Slidell, Louisiana. The Saturday before the storm my family and I evacuated to Tyler, Texas. However, my dad, uncle, and grandfather decided to stay and ride out the storm. I contact with my dad until the storm came in. Afterwards, we had no contact with my dad for four days. He was given information that there were phones available in Hammond, Louisiana. My dad made his way to Hammond to get into contact with us. I came home the following day of my dad contacting us. When I got off the interstate in Slidell I could not believe what had happen. Everywhere you look trees and power lines were down. Houses had trees in them. My grandmother house which my great grandfather built was destroyed by a giant pine tree. The tree has been there since my great grandfather built the house. From the tree falling rain had damaged most of her belongings. My house suffered some damage. It was just minimal damage. Im just thankful that those of my family members that stay were alright.
