I currently live in Bridge City (Jefferson Parish) as i did before Katrina. My family and I evacuated to Avoyelles Parish and stayed with relatives. Like so many others we were essentially stranded there for what seemed to be endless weeks. We were there so long that my parents decided to enroll my sister and me into the local schools (I was a senior in high school that year). It was kinda rough starting completely from scratch especially in my senior year, but we got a lot of help from the local people there in Avoyelles, we received almost everything we needed from school clothing, supplies, and food. The strongest memory I keep from that time in Avoyelles was when it came time for the the Saints to begin playing the regular season. Their first game was against the Carolina Panthers and I\'ll never forget how much relief that game brought to me and my family. For those few hours we were able to watch something other than the horrid pictures on CNN, and be apart of a Sunday New Orleans tradition (and family tradition) of watching our Saints PLay. Of course they won that game and went on to lose many many more that season, but for those few hours I could not have been more at home.
