I had a different point of view of Katrina. Unlike many New Orleanians who suffered from the flood waters, my experience was from the Northshore of Lake Ponchartrain where the main destruction was from fallen trees. The fondest memory I have of a time I have tried to forget was staring out of the windows watching the trees snap one by one. Nearly every house in the area was damaged in some way. Alone with only my boyfriend and the four dogs we sitted for several friends, I thought we would never recover. It wasn\'t until a couple days later when we finally got a chance to explore outside of our yard that I witnessed something remarkable: Nearly every neighbor that stayed were out helping others in the community. The men with their chainsaws clearing roads and the women going around making sure everyone was safe and had food....an experience I never had prior and haven\'t had since.
