On August 28, 2005, I was heading out of Metairie on my way to the North Shore. It was the day before the hurricane was suppose to hit and we waited last minutes to pack up and leave. On our way to Causeway it took us five hours to get across. My family got all of our things ready for the hurricane the next day. It was about eight in the morning when the storm hit. Things were flying around outside and ther power was already out. The trees surrounding the house were falling left and right. One tree hit the roof that my cousin and I were sleeping in causeing a hole in the roof. After the hurricane pasted the power was still out and we had to open all the window to let out all the hot air. If you live in Louisiana you know how hot the month of August really is. We had to wait till the flood went down and made our way to Houston and Destin for the next five weeks. Luckily my house was one of the only house on my street that didn\'t flood, besides a few window and roof damages. The smell in the air is something that i can\'t forget.
