I have a story bout my mother. LaVerne Flannigan, she was a nurse at Charity Hospital. She drew the unlucky straw for this storm(katrina)to stay and hunker down with the patients. I evacuated to North Alabama and lost all cell contact with my mother. I hear lots of stories on the news about breakins to the Hospital, I feard the worst. Finally, I spoke to my mother 8days after the storm. She was evacuated to Lafayette. Turns out that the National Guard was there to rescue them two days after the storm but had to turn back because of the looters and unruly people. They were shooting at the helicopters and trying to break into the Hospital to steal the drugs... so they suspect. They had no power and had to rely on I V bags to bathe. The sick who died had no were to be put. Needless to say my mother was trumatically affected by this event. I can\'t imagine how she still feels about this ordeal. I am just glad she made it oput safe.
