I remember feeling angry and disgusted with the government\'s reaction to the event. I remember hearing on NPR that FEMA wanted a faxed signature to send aid down there and being irritated that the federal government was so bureacratic in such an event. As far as I know, when the tsunami hit southeast Asia no one was demanding faxed signatures before helping people. \r\n \r\n\r\nFurthermore, I only thought something like this (the response of the government) would happen in a country like China. You often read news stories about fires, floods, or natural disasters in China where dozens of people die or are left untreated because of the government\'s ignorance. It\'s the kind of thing that is not uncommon over there. But in the U.S.? I never thought it would happen. You can\'t really prevent terrorism or natural disasters, but certainly you can have mechanisms in place to help people in dire situations... and our government didn\'t have that.\r\n\r\nI hope that this tragic event is used in the next election cycle as proof of how this administration failed.
