I lost my faith that we were prepared to deal with a disaster in the wake of 9/11. I felt and continue to feel ashamed and angry that we could be confronted with such a probable outcome, with such poor planning and finger-pointing. How could we fail the residents of New Orleans so badly? I believe we let those people down mostly because so many of them were poor. I gave money to the Katrina effort, but it doesn\'t fix anything. I am grateful I visited New Orleans before it was hit; I do not believe the city will return.
