Southern Love
As i was leaving, after my first trip back to check on things, I noticed the search and rescue marking date was 9-11 and thought it was just too much of a double whammy to leave all garish on the faces of my houses. I know it\'s silly, but i kinda feel like old houses have their own personalities. There was a gallon of pink paint in the bushes but all the brushes had floated away; so i used a lil rag and my fingertips to paint these hearts that just seemed the natural southern love spell to cast. Each time i would return home over the next year, there would be notes tucked into the broken screen door saying how much this lil symbol of hope was appreciated. Now, I kinda feel like they protect me..............................................................................................................................................\r\n\r\n\r\nHere is a copy of one of those notes...it was written in a bulky male handwriting on the back of a Mapquest printout with directions from Hattiesburg to Poydras St..............\r\n\r\n11/19\r\nthank you for the heart you painted. work for Verizon in Massachusetts and have been on the gulf coast for six weeks. have seen a lot but cannot fathom the pain the people here are going through. saw your heart and was struck with the thought that love and the hand of God will persevere.\r\nthanks,\r\nJohn
