One year later I don\'t remember very much from the hurricanes beyond the news images of the destruction of New Orleans. Two stories stick out a little more than the others. \r\n\r\nOne was a clip of a reporter interviewing Dick Cheney (who was in New Orleans, witnessing the devestation, and still whitewashing the event). As a resident walked by he in a calm voice cursed at Cheney loudly several times. The reporter paused, then asked, \"Have you been getting a lot of that?\"\r\n\r\nThe other story was from a friend who had gone down as a volunteer to help the recovery efforts. He said the atmosphere was what one might imagine an old west town being like. The law was thin if relevant at all, and many, many people were taking advantage, particularly drug dealers. I found it interesting that among such economic destruction a thriving underground market took such strong hold.
