During Hurricane Katrina I was a Senior in high school. I was attending John Ehret High School. During that time I really didn\'t think too much of hurricanes I thought we was just going on a mini vacation. I had no idea that when I returned that New Orleans would be in terrible condition. My family and I evacuated to Orange, Texas by my grandmother\'s uncle house. I was in a three bedroom house with about forty people total staying there. No one had money for a hotel and everyone left at the last minute. I was miserable and was ready to go home. As usually people begun to fight over what was there\'s and what not. Everyone was sleeping on top of each other but the people in Texas was really friendly. We use to go to souphouses at the church and eat and the church gave all the children clothes and toys to play with. I must say I felt ashamed. I promise myself now since I\'m grown now and have my own family we will be ready. I hate talking about Katrina because I feel like my family wasn\'t prepared for this and I hate the fact that we had to depend on others for support. In the end we came back home and our house was fine. We are truly blessed.
