I live in South Louisiana, however I was not devastated by the hurricanes. I received moderate damage; flooded yards, fallen trees, broken roofs, etc.. My connection to the devastated areas is the relief effort for the people in and around New Orleans. Friends of mine used their boats to save those in flooded areas. Some were able to help families in need, yet others were shot at. Some New Orleaians even attempted to steal the boat that was trying to help them. Though there are the uplifting stories about a community sticking together to beat the odds, there are also the disheartening stories about those who can take a tragic situation and somehow make it worse. On the list of hardships people had to go through, don\'t forget to add the people who decided to hurt others to try and help themselves.
