I was in eighth grade when Katrina hit. My family lives in Lacombe, Louisiana and we had evacuated to Tennessee. The storm was so bad that it had effected our hotel and the electricity had went out. I remember returning back home only a few days after the storm had passed. Slidell was abandoned. It was somewhat eerie. So many trees had fallen on the road that led to our house that we had to park our car and walk home. Luckily we didn\'t have any water damage but our roof had been damaged from flying debris. We went almost six weeks without electricity. Because our house wasn\'t damaged, we let friends and relatives whose homes were damaged stay with us. I hope a tragic event like Katrina never hits Louisiana again.
