Even though I am from a small in Minnesota, I still was effected greatly by Katrina. The stories on the news, and in the papers grabbed my attention and I knew instantly that I wanted to help. We started with some little things, but eventually we worked our way up to directly making a difference. I was a senior in highschool and very enthused about getting things done, so when I heard about a food drive I was definately ready to give! I tried to get as many people as possible to donate. At school we also collected money donations and we encouraged people that were elligable to give blood. Even though we had done all of these things, it still didn\'t seem like enough. We did what we could, but at the end of the day we still wished that there was something more we could do. There was nothing. We just hoped that someone would step in soon and help everyone in need. I think that hurricane Katrina brought out some great things in our country as well as some actions that definately needed improving. Hopefully our country and government have learned from the devistation of Katrina and will be able to act sooner if something of this magnitude happens again.
