I evacuated to Baton Rouge for Hurricane Katrina. It was the most horrible experiences of my life. We were living in an apartment with fifteen other people. It was air matresses lined up from door to door. My parents and my other two siblings slept in an area meant for one college student, basically the size of a twin bed. My father was self employed in Jefferson Parish so as soon as he could return to the city he and my mother moved back. Our home was the only one that did not receive water in the whole neighborhood because it was built high. My parents lived without electricity and only army meals in the pouches for food. I stayed in Baton Rouge until October when my high school reopened. Hopefully we will never have to experience that again. I was lucky though because my parents and friends in Baton Rouge took excellent care of me. I was only fifteen at the time.
