What I remember most about Hurricane Katrina is the thousands of stories of the terrible disaster on the news. I didn’t realize how bad it was until maybe a week after the hurricane happened. I never watch the news and I figured it was just something that happened far away from me. This hurricane somewhat inspired me to not only watch the news but also pay attention to what’s going on in the world. I want to help out or do something good in my community and the best way I could think of is by teaching swim lessons. By taking a child and helping them learn something they did not know how to do, I feel that I have done something valuable in my community.
