My father, Jon Scheurich, worked for Porsche of New Orleans for over twenty years on Tulane Avenue. When Katrina came, the business flooded and was moved to Veterans Blvd. in Metairie. The business was never the same, and it ended up going out of business two years after. My father then filed for unemployment and one year later he opened up his own business, Nolasport. His business has been open since 2009 and he is doing better than ever. Out of all the harm Katrina caused for my family and our city, this is the one true thing that we are thankful for.
