Should I hate the government systems?\r\n\r\nAbout a day or two before August, 25 of last year, I hared Mayor Ray Nagin talk about how secure New Orleans was and how they were ready for any disaster! Furthermore, I heard President George W. Bush encouraging us to calm because New Orleans is ready for Katrina! So I wasn\'t worried. I was just concerning about the strength and speed of Katrina.\r\n\r\nHurricane Katrina displaced a million people, killed about 1800 people, 20% of New Orleans\' population were trapped without food, power or drinking water. The city became a deadly pool of dirt and chemicals. The crime rate increased because of the gangs and gun holders. People who made it to the shelters found themselves in a harsh, hot, smelly environment.\r\n\r\nBut, who is the scapegoat? The government who honored Michael Brown, a former director of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) who resigns after the national disaster; or FEMA itself because they couldn\'t handle the responsibilities.\r\n\r\nSomehow, I think discriminations and racism could be a cause of the late evacuation of African Americans in New Orleans and the short notice for poor, black people that had no transportations. I\'m so disappointed of what happened, but hoping that we did learn from our mistake. \r\n
