These displaced students have lost nearly everything.\r\n\r\nHome. Personal possession. Trinkets from childhood. Cars. Clothes. Jobs. Dorm rooms. \r\n\r\nNearly everything.\r\n\r\nA few of the people in the Manship School came up with the idea that we professors, who always get free text books from publishers, should ask our publisher rep to give us free text books for the displaced students. What a great idea.\r\n\r\nDoctoral student Ann Day, who teaches the same class I do, passed on the e-mail addresses of the reps for the books we use. I e-mailed them both. \r\n\r\nWithin 10 minutes, the rep for Thompson Wadsworth said she would FedEX the books this week & they should be here by the end of the week. \r\n\r\nIt\'s these little things that we will be looking for companies to do to help get these students back on their feet.\r\n\r\nUPDATE: McGraw Hill did the same. Huge thanks to both companies.
