My name is Kayla, and I\'m a sophomore at Vidor High School. The hurricane did not affect me much. The day we heard it was a mandatory evacuation we left towards the lake. We thought we were going to stop at our lake house and then leave and head who knows where. Well our plans changed when it wound up taking us 11 hours to get to the lake which usually only takes us an hour and a half to get there. We had my shihtzu, my brother\'s chihuahua, and my aunt\'s mastiff with us. There we were in this little lake house with 13 people, 3 dogs, and a 8 month old baby. The night of the storm was horrible, I could hear trees falling everywhere and the loud rumble of the wind. I was so frightened that a tree was going to hit our lake house and we were going to be helpless but thank goodness nothing did. We stayed at the lake house until they allowed us to come back into Vidor. I was scared i was going to come home to nothing I don\'t know what I would do if that actually happened. Nothing actually happened to our house though just a couple of trees down and a little damage to the roof but nothing huge. That is my experience with Hurricane Rita.
