Hi, \r\n My name is Courtney ,and im a sophmore at Vidor High School. We left the next day when they told us to leave. My mom and dad and I packed everthing, all pictures, videos, and all clothes because we wanted to be sure later that we would have everything. Of course, we could not leave our pets, my cat, Precious, and Angel. We could not drive my moms car for reason, so my best friends mom was leaving hers so we took hers instead, its a cougar so the cats, my mom and me in a small car was pretty hard. We got to some part of Louisiana and we saw that everyone was trying to get gas. There was no where to get it , at least for miles. Then when everybody found it would get crazy. All my moms family was heading for the lakes around here just two or three hours away, which at that time it looked like it wasnt coming this way.. so we decided to go to the east. Florida, where my aunt and uncle lives, we were just going to stay for about 2 days, we ended up staying for a week. Then came back, the news never talked about Vidor, so we didnt have no idea what was going on here, when school was going to start again and if if was safe to come back. So we came back anyways.. When we got home, it was horrible but we didnt get it that bad. I think the hardest thing about it all was that we didnt have power for a month, cooking gumbo on the gril, hearing generators run all night, sweating, agh! I thought we were never going to get power, but then we did. The whole experience was terrible, but we all survived and are still getting back to normal, just like everyone else. Thank goodness it wasnt any worse.
