As soon as hurricane Rita was on her way i immeditaly worried. Although my parents didn\'t hurry & rent a hotel room, we didnt even decide where we were going untill the day before Rita was to hit! We packed all our valuables & left everything else behind.. I was so scared, this was the 1st hurricane to hit Vidor. We stayed in Kurby Ville,(not to far from where i live).. a big ranch.. How stupid was that? Anyways when we arrived there were a bunch of other relatives.. I hated it & didn\'t want to stay. The hole next day i was worried about my house and what was to happen if it wasnt there anymore! After Rita hit, we left as soon as possible. On our way home i looked around to see how everything was.. It was a mess! I had no idea what was in store for my own house.. As we arrived my face just dropped in aww.. My house was still together in one piece & but my two door garage was not.. it was now i one car garage! my acre of a back yard was flooded bad! There was no privacy fence that went around my home any more. It had blown completly blown down. That was my first impression but by the next day my dad had completly picked up all the pieces of our fence and built it back up.. I have no idea how he did it.. And we kept the one car garage.. and took all the rest of the pieces to the trash. Later on that week i realized there were alot more people than just me who\'s homes and land were damaged and mine was nearly as bad. I\'m just happy i have my family and home.. Which is more than what some people can say. This expieriance has taught me to be more thankful for the things you have.. Even the littliest of them all...
