Hellicane: Poets Respond to Hurricane Katrina

Hello my friend\r\nI can see by the look in your eyes you\'re tired\r\nTired of trying\r\nTired of this world\r\n\r\nThe pain and suffering is too deep\r\nTied up to my knees to my head in worries\r\nFull of trouble I cannot see\r\n\r\nYou are no different than I my friend\r\nAnd, you see, though we aren\'t the same\r\nWe are\r\nWe\'re bound not by choice but by chance to this universe\r\nThis planet we call home\r\nAnd the countries and states of great escape\r\nCannot quit under pain alone\r\n\r\nThere\'s nothing with out someone and something in you\r\nThere\'s life inside love and it\'s beautiful too\r\nCan you make me want to see this world through?\r\n\r\nThere\'s nothing with out someone and something in you\r\nHow he wished he could say he already knew\r\nThough from time he\'ll tire of stretching the truth\r\nIf we don\'t unite we\'ll drown in life too\r\n\r\nThere\'s nothing with out someone and something in you\r\n\r\nSo many of our people are crying\r\nDon\'t turn around\r\nThey\'re lying dying from heat\r\nA cold cold death\r\nIf you listen in silence you\'ll hear their last breath\r\nLouder than New Orleans could ever sing\r\n\'Take care of everything\'\r\n\r\nAnd my friend if you try not to cry\r\nIt won\'t help this world come together at all\r\nFor each tear is a voice\r\nA scream of suffering that makes a wearry heart fall\r\n\r\nThe only way to show the man\r\nWho seems to have time on his hands\r\nTo wait and watch as our homes crumble at our feet\r\nIs to wake while he sleeps and creep deep deep\r\n\r\nInto the heart of the worry and pray\r\nBecause God knows\r\nAnd it shows\r\nWhen He\'s mad or proud\r\nAnd it changes each day\r\nHelp us take that man away\r\n\r\nThere\'s nothing with out someone and something in you\r\nThere\'s life inside love and it\'s beautiful too\r\nCan you make me want to see this world through?\r\n\r\nThere\'s nothing with out someone and something in you\r\nHow he wished he could say he already knew\r\nOur \'leader\' must tire of stretching the truth\r\nIf we don\'t unite we\'ll drown in life too\r\n\r\nThere\'s nothing with out someone and something in you\r\n\r\nIf we bond together we can make it through\r\nThis natural disaster that \'nobody knew\'\r\nThere\'s nothing with out someone\r\nBut I know there\'s something - in you\r\n\r\n
