My name is Christy Danna and I have a husband and one 10 year old boy. We evacuated from Harahan, LA one day before Hurricane Katrina to a motel in Sulphur, LA expecting like everyone else to come back in a few days with no problems. When I saw the news the day after the storm I was just in total shock and sadness at what I saw was happening to my city. I couldn\'t bear to watch but I couldn\'t get away from the TV. We stayed in the motel for two weeks and I finally got in touch with my mom in Texas and went to where my parents were staying at my aunt\'s in Houston. The day the mayor said Jefferson Parish residents can come back home my husband and I came back and left my son with his grandparents so he can stay in school. I knew we had roof damage but could never imagine how bad it was for real. I was so disgusted it was hard to go into the house for several weeks for me. We stayed at my husband\'s brother\'s house until one week ago. We now are staying in a trailer that we got from our insurance company. Now we are consumed with fighting with Allstate to give us enough money for the damages and now we are waiting for our first check that Chase Mortgage Company went and took $7300 out of our check without us knowing it! Why does everyone seem like crooks. One thing I learned through all this just thank god you have your family and learn patience or you will drive yourself nuts!
