Growing up in Mobile, Al I know all about hurricanes but knew this one was different. My husband is in the military , so we were very fortunate to be told to leave the city on Friday before the storm. We headed west with our two teenage boys to Houston, TX. The closer the storm got to the central Gulf coast the more worried I was. After growing to the intensity it was, we were concerned for the city of New Orleans and all of our friends and loved ones to the East of there. We lived in hotel rooms for two weeks in Houston. Upon leaving Texas we made a quick stop to our home. The sights that we were about to encounter was something you never thought you would see. The place looked like a third world country. Armed guardsmen on every corner, helicopters flying everywhere. Coming down airline highway looking at the airport it looked like a military ground in a war zone. We had to leave again and temporarily relocate to Georgia, where we have been since September. We will be returning to the city after the holidays. My heart and prayers are with all the families that were unable to leave and to the ones who lost someone.
