My family and I evacuated from Slidell to a Naval Base in Tennessee. My experience there made me understand why Tennessee is called the volunteer state. Everywhere I looked on the naval base there were tents- tents for food drives, tents for medical care, tents for clothing and blanket collection. We stayed in Tennessee for a little over a month. My sister and I attended high school there and my father filled his time working at the tent designated for food collections. One night he decided to take some food back to the old military housing complex we stayed in with another family. One woman stopped him saying \"You can\'t take that it\'s for the refugees!\" My father looked at her a laughed saying, \"Well, I think I am a \'refugee.\'\"
