This hurricane seemed just like any other. Nothing too harsh, it will just blow over in a few days. We stayed until August 28th, when our fellow neighbors convinced us to leave. We sat in traffic for 26 hours on our way to Tallahassee, Florida. We stayed here in a relatives home until we found a little college dorm to stay in. After 2 months we finally got the OK to come check on our house in New Orleans. We had 5 feet of water and a lot of mold. We stayed in Tallahassee for 2 years until we came home to live in a FEMA trailer. My dad stayed in Florida because his health was slowly decreasing. In 2007 we got hit by a tornado that tore apart our trailer and all work we had done on fixing up our house. We had to start over from scratch. After 8 long months of rebuilding and living with my aunt, our house was finally finished. My dad came to visit and make sure everything was ready for him to come home then went back to Tallahassee to get everything together. 2 months later my dad died. In Florida without us. Our family is now broken living in a fully remodeled house with out the most important person we were working so hard to get home. Katrina is remembered everyday in our family with our struggles with financial burdens and the lost of our amazing father.
