Hurricane Katrina did not affect my family and I as much as most people in New Orleans. We were very lucky in that the only damage our house received was the roof caved in, in one room. We had damage, but it wasn\'t anything like what the people in Metairie, New Orleans, St. Bernard had gotten. We had evacuated the Sunday the hurricane hit, we were not going to leave, but once we heard that it was a category 5 we decided it would be best. So we made the 4 hour trek to Baton Rouge, which would have normally only taken an hour. The minute we got to Baton Rouge it started raining. It didn\'t stop raining till the next morning when the hurricane had passed. We didn\'t know the amount of damage New Orleans had faced because all the electricity was out in Baton Rouge. We were without electricity for about 2 weeks. When we finally discovered the damage our city had faced we were horrified. When we heard all the stories about everything going on we were very saddened that our city could go into such chaos. It is definatley an experience we would never want to experience again.
