I am a 15 year-old sophmore from Vidor. We evacuated to Milam, TX, which was only supposed to take an hour and a half, but because of all the trafic it took us about 12 to 13 hours. The heat was so intense, it was horrible, our two ferrets were starting to get weak from being in heat for the first time. When we finally got there, we shared a one and a half bedroom trailer with another family of five, and ours had four. The first night we were there it was alright, but there was so many ants everywhere. The second night is when the hurricane came, it was they worst thing I had ever seen. We sat on the porch and watched trees just falling and crashing on the ground, but the strange thing was there wasn\'t even a leave blowing in our yard. I guess we didn\'t go up far enough, because it was almost just as bad up there. The power went out very fast, and then when we finally went home we went through three peoples yards to get to our house, and we still couldn\'t even get in our driveway. We were very lucky we only lost our barn and workshop, but our house was ok. It was way to hot to stay down here, so we went back up to San Augustine, TX. The only thing better up there was they had hpower, but where we were staying didn\'t have any water, and they only had one channel on t.v. When we finally came back down here, we lived off of beanie weenie\'s and cold meals, because our generator could only power a few fans and a light. Our yard still isnt cleaned up though, because we lost about 20 trees or more in it.
