My name is Amy, I am 15 years old and I am a victom of Hurrican Rita. It was September 23, 2006 when it hit and we had to evacuate. Our family left on the 22 when it was mantitory. We evacuated to Nacogdoches that is were my cousin lives. We had my Aunt, cousin, grandma, mom, dad, brother, and my cat in the car for a 7 hours trip, and it only takes about 2 1/2 hours to get there on any other day. When we got there it was about 10 at night and we went to sleep. The next day was the day of the hurricane. I was so scared. All of the thoughts went through my head like am I going to have a home to go back to, what happens if I don\'t? I ran to my mom and we cried cause we didn\'t know what was going to happen. I kept on asking her if everything was going to be ok...like she knows...but she kept on say yes I know for sure like anyother mom would say. but after the hurricane come to find out my uncle stayed during all of it and he went to our house and he said our house was fine but he was telling us about all the other houses, buildings, and all the trees that were down.
