I am from New Orleans, Louisiana and this is my evacuation story. For Katrina, i evacuated with my dad, grandapa, my dad\'s girlfriend, and some other people to Beaumont, Texas. We stayed in a Red Roof Inn for about a week before heading to my aunt\'s house in Lake Charles, Louisiana. We stayed there for about two and a half to three weeks. While we were there my grandma and a few more family from the New Orleans area also went there to stay for a while. After our stay at my aunt\'s house, we the went to hammond to stay at my cousin\'s appartment. we stayed there for three to four weeks. During the time we were there we went to my grandma\'s house in Covington, Louisiana to go heck on her house and to pick up some of the debris that was in the yard. after about two weeks, my dad and grandpa went back to Terry Town, Louisiana to check on our house and to see how much damage the hurricane had caused and to start cleaning up. About a week later I had gotten in an arguement with my grandma over something pointless because of the stress of being away from home for so long so i called my dad to see if he could come pick me up and bring me home. He told me on the phone that it might be better for me to just stay at my cousins appartment because there was still no electricity at our house. I told him that i didn\'t care and that I just wanted to go home. The next day, he came and picked me up and brought me home. When I got to my house, I called my mom to see how she was and to see if she was home yet. She said se was fine and that she was home and they had electriciy. Two days after I got to my dad\'s house, I went to my mom\'s house in Marrero, Louisiana. I stayed there from Thursday to Saturday. When i got back to my dad\'s house the electriciy had been restored and we started to get back to our daily life routines. After it was all over, I was away from home from August 29th till September 30th, and missed almost two months of school.
